I know it's not a good picture, but it's the reason I'm a little slow moving this week!!
I FINALLY got to see the Foo Fighters this past Monday!!
They've been one of my favorite bands for some time now, and as an anniversary gift (which was in May), my hubby and I got ourselves tickets!!
Now, living in Northern Jersey, there is no shortage of venues to see concerts, and I've been to many in my time. This was by far one of the BEST shows I've ever seen, right up there with Bruce! Well worth every penny spent. Two opening acts, and 3 hours of LOUD arena rock show Foo Fighters (my ears are STILL buzzing) - I was in heaven!!
But a poor parking choice (3 levels up that took us 45 minutes to get out of), an hour ride home, then some time reading because I was still a bit wound up, I didn't get to bed until after 2:30!! Cut to the alarm going off at 6:30, you can guess the rest!
But it's back to work now. Starting with the blog post, I'm on my way to my work area to work on some upcoming class samples!!

Do not check your screen. This is not the "snow" we used to get growing up when the TV antenna was not positioned right (ok - I'm dating myself). This is actually what our backyard looked like EARLY during the snow storm we got on Saturday. Yep - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29!!! Like I said, this was early in the day, we ended up with 14 inches!!
And once again we were VERY LUCKY! We never lost power, only our satellite for a day, and our internet for 4 days. So many people are still without power 6 days later!
Losing the internet was not fun - especially since it was the second weekend in a row! The worst the snow day on Monday! It was only October 31, and we've already used 2 of our 4 allotted snow days!! It's going to be a long winter...
On the bright side, without the internet, I was able to get super prepared for our Fall Scrapbooking Getaway this weekend!! I am so looking forward to spending 3 RELAXING days scrapbooking with friends, enjoying great food (that I don't need to make), and MINIMAL INTERRUPTIONS so that I can actually get my projects done!
If you weren't able to join us this time, we would love to see you at our Winter Weekend!! Registration begins on Monday, November 7!! Click here for more information!!
That's right - major technical difficulties!!
We've had little or no internet since Friday morning!! Now I don't know about you, but I am an internet junkie - I use it for everything!! News, directions, card samples, email, you name it, I look it up on the computer. Combine that with 2 daughters that do all of their homework via the internet, and a husband who is working on a huge project that requires internet access - and Houston, we have a problem!!
So I did what any panicked individual would do - I ran right to Staples and bought a new modem, because I couldn't wait the 5 days for our phone company to send us a new one!! Well that didn't work either, so that meant it was a connection either to or in the house, and we couldn't get a someone here until Monday anyway!!
So we limped through the weekend with spotty internet service, and FINALLY the technician was able to fix the problem yesterday afternoon! Turns out I didn't even need a new modem - so thats getting returned today!!
In any event, I had lots of time to work on getting ready for my Technique Class this Thursday. Interested in attending? Today is the last day to sign up, so register here!
What a wild weather week it's been here in the Northeast!!
Last week there was actually an earthquake here on the east coast! I personally didn't feel it, but lots in the area did. The epicenter was located in central Virginia, about 50 miles from my sister's house in Fairfax County!! She happened to be in Target at the time, and she said that things just started shaking and falling off shelves. Pretty scary when this is not something we have seen in our lifetime!!
Then, this weekend, Irene barreled into the area. Although at times I felt the 24/7 coverage was a bit much, the media and local officals did an excellent job of preparing us for the storm. We fared pretty well, only losing power for about 8 hours, and no major water or debree in the yard.
What we couldn't prepare for however, was the devestation that came after the storm, and the flooding that is all around us now. We have family and friends that have had to evacuate, and have lost so much in their homes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them all.
We are back from a wonderful vacation "down the shore" in Wildwood, NJ!!
It really was such a relaxing, laid back week. Compared to last year's "walk until we drop" Disney adventure, it was really nice to pretty much do nothing for the week! The most walking we did was to the beach, then down to the water a couple of times, then back from the beach!! I think I probably read 4 books while I was away!!
While I was away my box of new Stampin' Up! goodies came. I knew I wouldn't have the time before I left, so I waited to place my order so that it would arrive when I got home!! Boy was that hard!! I am hoping to post some new samples later on in the week!!
OK - back from another break! Hopefully that will be the last one for a while, and I can get back on a schedule!!
So much going on. There is still a week left for the Last Chance Stamps and Accessories, the new 2011-2012 Idea Books and Catalogs are available for pick up now, an in just 8 days, the new Catalog goes live!!
So the day I had been stressing about for so long, finally came and it was AWESOME!!
The graduation ceremony was very nice, and I was actually able to hold myself together for the entire thing!! She was on to Project Graduation after that, and now the endless round of parties has begun.
In all of the activities of the past few weeks, I was able to get in a "Man Class".
For those of you that don't know what that is (my husband included), it is a much requested class in which we make "man cards". These are not the easiest cards for me (or my customers) to come up with ideas for, because we all like making cards with flowers, bows and bling!
I usually have one of these classes close to Father's Day, and here's one of the samples we did. One of the nice things about the Summer Mini each year is there is usually a lot of "masculine" stamps, papers and accessories, and this year was no exception.
Here's what we used:
Stamps: The Open Sea, On Your Birthday
Card Stock: Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Nautical Expedition DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Ticket Corner, Modern Label & Word Window Punches, Bakers Twine, Metallic Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals
If you are interested in classes, or would like to order from the Last Chance Lists, give me a call, email me, or ORDER ONLINE anytime!
Wow. I can't believe that's its been over a week since I last posted!
It has been a really action packed week though. Even though the end of school isn't officially over for another 3 weeks, there was a lot that went on in the last week!
Lacrosse season finished up. Because of all the rain we had this year, there were a bunch of games that the team had to squeeze in all in that last week. The season finished up with a tribute to the nine seniors graduating this year, a tailgate party, then the girls had their own "homemade" slip & slide! We're sad that the season has ended, but Mikaela really had a wonderful year, playing on all three teams - Freshman, JV, and Varsity, and even scoring her first Varsity Goal!! She already misses it, and can't wait for summer programs to start!
But it didn't end there. Now we are in MAJOR Prom Prep mode!! Morgan actually got her dress back at the beginning of April (and it's absolutely gorgeous!), but she really had difficulty finding shoes. Well, she finally found them, and we were finally able to get the dress altered!! I was so afraid that we were going to run out of time getting it tailored, but it's done, and hanging back in the bedroom. Now all we she has to do is eyebrows, hair, nails, rides to and from, and plan for the "shore" weekend after!! I honestly don't think that there was this much planning involved in our wedding!! Oh, and did I mention that she's also been nominated for Miss Sparta!!?? And then there's GRADUATION!
I really don't mind all the chaos right now. About two weeks ago the "where did the time go" tears started, so this keeps my mind busy. If I'm patient though, someone will eventually annoy me to the point where (hopefully) the tears will stop!
It's an exciting time of year all around. The Retired List comes out in a week, the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog is right around the corner, and with it, a new Hostess Program!!
Come back often for all of the details!
I've been a little absent lately, and this picture may give some insight as to why!!
As we've all gotten older, and had our own families, my sisters, brother and I have all "taken" a holiday to do at our house. We've done Christmas Eve since we first got married, and several years ago added Easter. My sister Jen has been doing Thanksgiving, but last year my brother bought a house, and we had to shift the holidays around a bit. So we gave up Christmas Eve (I was really sad to give it up - I loved coming up with different fish dishes each year), my brother took Thanksgiving, and my sister has Christmas Eve. Christmas Day has forever been at my mom's, and that is a whole big extravaganza!
So Easter is now the big holiday that our family does each year - and we really go all out!!
The main reason we do Easter is because we have the best yard for the "Hunt". This year we had 11 kids - age ranges from 18 to 2 - so there were a lot of eggs to fill!! Each kid gets their own color, and then they need to find all the eggs in that color! Of course we go a little overboard with the eggs, as you can see by the picture.
Of course it rained just before we went outside, so we had to wait and have a very wet "hunt" this year!!
After that it was dinner for 26, and then probably enough dessert for 48!!
Needless to say, after the week of preparation, I was exhausted!! I spent Monday sitting, reading, and catching up on my Housewives!!
I'm feeling much more rested now, and I need it!! It's Spring Break, and the girls and I are off to clothes shop!!
This is the view from my dining room window - today, March 24,2011.
That's right, March 24, 2011!!!
I know I've been talking complaining a lot about the weather this year, and this is the reason why!!
Yes it's beautiful, yes I love a good snowstorm, yes, it reminds me of the winters growing up, but enough is enough!! I think that our Spring Break is down to 3 days!!
The girls were very excited when March finally arrived, they assumed that the Winter weather would be over. I had to keep reminding them that March can have some of the craziest weather of the year. Case in point, the year my youngest daughter turned 1, March 31, 1997, we had 3 feet of snow on her birthday!!
Hopefully, this will be the end of it!!
Well, now I'm off to stamp some more, don't feel too much like going out in this today.
If you need some supplies to help you get through these next few days, give me a call, email me, or ORDER ONLINE anytime.
Stay warm!
